RoomFifty are the company behind MakeRoom. We’re a small independent print company, based in the UK.
Roomfifty launched in 2017 selling museum-quality prints by 50 of the best artists and designers in the world. The founding principles of quality, diversity and fairness means that RoomFifty is now trusted by artists and customers all over the world. You can read more about us on our About page
You can find the subscription details on the subscription page. These are the monthly or yearly costs.
Download our price lists so you can start thinking about your profit margins. Remember: you only pay for the prints you sell.
We’ve also provided RRPs based on what we sell our prints for on RoomFifty, just to give you an idea of what you might like to charge. These prices are all on your Dashboard once you subscribe, so you can see what the costs are as well as your profits.
When a customer buys a print, they pay us the price you set. When you request a payout, we then pay you just your profits. It’s all laid out on your dashboard so you can track your sales and profits.

Yes! So long as you produce images that can be digitally printed, and have a compatible website (see the embed questions below), you can use the MakeRoom service.
Yes of course! We have it all laid out in our support pages: https://roomfifty.crunch.help/make-room/getting-started
We are very happy to take care of your customers for you.
You can direct them to our help pages: https://roomfifty.crunch.help/make-room-customers to see if that answers any questions they might have.
All of the emails your customers receive will have the link to our help pages in them, but we recommend that you have a link to these pages on your site to ensure it’s findable.
Forward any and all customer emails to us at info@mymakeroom.com
Yes, we provide code that can drop into websites, and cannot work on its own.
You can download full specifications from our Downloads page.
We need print files that are RGB JPGs, at 300dpi (or at least 150 dpi for the large sizes)
These files should be under 10mb.
We have one on this website! Go to our Samples page to interact with one of our embedded shops.
The initial set up of the products is 2 working days. We like to personally ensure quality of the prints, and get any issues ironed out before your customers see your products.
Once you’re all set up and you would like to make changes we need up to 2 working days to process any changes that you need to make, so be sure to get your requests in to us in good time!
If there are any issues with any of the files, we’ll drop you an email and you can fix it and re-upload.
We do try to go as fast as possible, but to help us the best thing to do is make sure all your files are the right spec before you upload.
No. The MakeRoom service does not include any promotion at all. We are happy to handle the printing, shipping, and customer care, but cannot assist with marketing of any kind.
To avoid confusion, the agreement between MakeRoom and the artists specifies that we can use images of your products in advertising to promote our service, (which we will credit and/or tag as appropriate). This does not count as us promoting the users of the MakeRoom service, and we have no responsibility to promote sales of products. We select users products for our ads based on suitability for our audience, and will decline any requests to feature particular items.
Not yet, but we’re working on it! For now all transactions are GBP
Click the ‘request payment’ button in your profile, on the Products page.
When you sign up we ask for your bank details to make payments. When you have sold some items and build up a bit of profit, we can pay that out to you.
Please be aware this payment can take up to 7 working days to show in your bank account.
Yes, the printers and shipping partners charge us VAT and it’s included in our costs, and your share of the profits includes VAT, which if you are in the UK you will need to declare as per any other sale through your business.
Our VAT number is GB292772370
If you need a VAT invoice please email us: info@mymakeroom.com
When we talk about a product we really mean an image – for each image there are variants (paper type and size).
So for the Doodle subscription you can have 5 Products. For each Product you have one image upload (and title and description), and up to 4 papers and a framing option each with 14 sizes.
No, we will do that for you!
When we upload your products to our system we add our details about the paper, printing, and/or framing of the product you’ve selected to sell.
When you add a description to your upload, you can give your inspiration or detail about the image and we’ll do the boring bit.
No, as with the first upload, we’ll need to check them first.
The process is simple though, go to your Products page in your profile, add your new file and click ‘request change’.
If the file is OK then we’ll publish it, and it will update in your shop.
If there’s something wrong we’ll send an email for you to re-upload or otherwise correct the product.
This is something we would love to provide, and hope to launch in the future.
At the moment we generate mockups of the prints on paper or in frames with a white background; keeping it simple so the focus is on your design.
After a lot of research we have a product range that we feel is as ecologically sound as possible.
Our product pages have further details, but we use water-based inks and paper and wood from sustainable sources.
We try to make sure that packaging is designed efficiently and either biodegradable or recyclable. It’s not possible in every case currently so we are always looking for improvements to make, ethically and ecologically. We hope that this means that you can trust that your products have as low an impact on the environment as possible.
Importantly, our print networks are a big part of reducing environmental impact: We work with printers across the world, so by printing and shipping items local to the customer the carbon footprint of each product is drastically reduced. No more aeroplane holds full of poster tubes.
No, the data that we edit will all update the original embed automatically.
We produce mockups showing the paper containing the image, or if they are framed, the product images show the image in frame(s). They all have white backgrounds so they’re nice and simple to highlight your design.
We cannot yet add bespoke product images but we are looking at adding these in the future.
Yes, it will re-size and stack up to match the website it’s embedded on.
Don’t worry – everything will function on mobile and on desktop.
We are happy to handle any customer issues that come up. Pass them on to us and we’ll follow up with them directly.
This can be anything from printing queries to missing or damaged packages. Forward emails on to us here: info@mymakeroom.com
You can also direct them to our help pages: https://roomfifty.crunch.help/make-room-customers
Or full returns policy for your customers is here:
We are happy to deal with the customer directly, so please send their email on to us at info@mymakeroom.com
Customers should contact us within 14 days of receiving the item to tell us if they want a return.
Customers need to pay for the shipping to return items (unless faulty, see below).
We’ll provide you with a return address, and refund the cost to them. This cost is then deducted from your profit payment.
If the product is faulty we’ll refund it, or replace it.
Any refunds for non-faulty items are deducted from your profit payment.
If a faulty item is replaced this will be at no additional cost to you.
You can see the sales numbers on your profile product page. It will tell you how many have sold and your profits per item.
Currently we only collect emails for shipping and notification purposes and cannot pass them on to you, but we hope to add this feature in the near future.
As we’re new and still building our product we’re getting systems in place to make sure that our customers and your customers have the best data security, so to be compliant and responsible for now we’re saying we can’t pass any data on to the artists. At checkout your customers will see links to our privacy policy and Ts&Cs which name us as the data owner who will not use their data for anything other than getting their order to them.
However we’re looking at it as it seems like a totally reasonable thing to get customer emails who opt in for marketing, and we understand why this might be a dealbreaker!
We want to add this ability in the near future when we can ensure the right emails and names are going to the right people and the customers understand what they are opting in to.
This is something we are working on, and hope to launch soon.
This is something we are working on, and hope to launch soon.
No, we don’t display them all together. The products are only available from the users’ websites.
We love a sale. We’re happy to provide discount codes. Just get in touch! info@mymakeroom.com
We’ll also be in touch a couple of times a year to ask if you want to participate in Black Friday or season sales.
Sure! Drop us an email and we’ll work it out: info@mymakeroom.com
Of course. You can see more details about the papers and frames and order them from our Samples page
There is a charge for the items, though this is cost-price.
It’s up to you! We have an RRP for the products on the pricing page, and you can see your profit share as you adjust your prices.
Just be aware that you will need to pay your usual taxes on your sales.
We have many printers throughout the world, so when a customer places an order, their items will be printed closest to them.
We have UK and EU printers, so there should not be any fees or customs issues for customers in Europe.
Yes, you can!
The Cargo platform allows any iFrame code to be embedded. See their help pages for details
You can paste embed codes directly into the page you are editing, or in the Code View (via the Formatting Toolbar).
Once we have your files we’ll check them and get them print-ready. We’ll then email you the embed code, which can also be found in your profile pages.
You’ll need to put this in to your website in the desired space. See the following questions for details for each platform.
Every website publishing platform has a slightly different way of doing this, and you might need to check that your subscription (e.g. to Squarespace) allows these embeds.
We use a powerful Shopify checkout embed, so for more details and support please check out their documentation.
If you have problems with this, please check the Shopify documentation or contact your website provider. Of course if you’re really stuck please email info@mymakeroom.com
Adding embed code to a WordPress.org blog
You can add embed code to individual posts and to the menu on the home page of your WordPress.org blog.
Note
Embedded MakeRoom Embeds are compatible with the WordPress.org platform but not with WordPress.com. This documentation describes WordPress 4.2.2. Your version might be different. You can learn more about WordPress versions on the WordPress support site.
Add embed code to a WordPress post
Right click to ‘Select all’ and then ‘Copy’ the full embed code provided by MakeRoom.
From your WordPress dashboard, go to your posts.
Create a new post, or edit an existing post where you want to display a MakeRoom Shop.
Depending on the WordPress version you’re using, complete one of the following steps:
In the post, change the text editor from Visual to Text mode.
From the block editor, click the + button, search for Custom HTML, and then click Custom HTML.
Paste the embed code into the text field in the place where you want the MakeRoom Embed or collection to appear.
When you’re done, click Save Draft, Preview, or Publish.
Add embed code to a WordPress menu
Steps:
From your WordPress dashboard, click Appearance.
Click Customise to open the theme editor, and then click Widgets.
Click the name of the area where you want to add the MakeRoom Embed or custom cart code.
Open an existing Text widget, or click Add a Widget, and then click Text.
Paste the embed code into the main text field within the Text widget.
Save your changes.
Note
If you want to change the behaviour or appearance of your website’s cart, then you can add custom cart code to a menu on the home page of your WordPress.org blog.
Note: Adding embed code to a site with an existing shopping cart
The MakeRoom Embed creates a separate cart. If your customer moves to a different page in your online store, then the item will no longer appear in the cart. In this case, please inform us of your site setup, and we can edit the MakeRoom Embed to go directly to the checkout.
You can only sell designs that you have full copyright ownership for.
If a product is flagged as being a copyright violation we will remove it immediately pending investigation.
It might also be that an image is rejected at upload stage for being a copyright violation, and the reason for rejection will be outlined as such. In this case you will need to show ownership before it will be published.
We do not check every image as standard, but may do random checks.
Please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
We take this very seriously, and if a product is flagged as being a copyright violation we will remove it immediately pending investigation.
Please email info@mymakeroom.com with links, screengrabs, and any pertinent details.
Caution
Some advanced customisations on Squarespace are theme-specific. These customisations aren’t supported by the MakeRoom Embed.
You can add embed code to individual posts in Squarespace and to the menus on your home page. In some cases, you might want to do both. For example, you can embed a cart on your home page to receive purchases from MakeRoom Embeds that you embed on individual posts.
Steps:
From your Squarespace dashboard, open the webpage where you want to add the embed code.
Find the element on the page where you want the MakeRoom Embed to appear, move your cursor over the Page Content area, and then click EDIT.
Click the insert point where you want to add the embed code.
In the More section of the Content Blocks dialog, click Code.
Right click to ‘Select all’ and then ‘Copy’ the full embed code provided by MakeRoom.
From your Squarespace dashboard, paste the embed code into the CODE dialog. Make sure that the text field is set to receive HTML.
Click APPLY on the EDIT CODE dialog.
Click SAVE again on the page editor. Because Squarespace disables JavaScript in its dashboard, you need to preview your page separately to see the MakeRoom Embed or embedded cart that you’ve added.
If you complete the steps and your MakeRoom Embed is not loading, then you might need to disable Ajax loading. To see more details, go to Enable or disable Ajax.
Note
If you add an embedded cart to a menu on your Squarespace home page, then it receives orders from MakeRoom Embeds that you embed on individual posts.
You can add a MakeRoom embedded shop to your Wix website using the Wix Website Editor.
Caution
If you want to embed MakeRoom Embeds for multiple products or collections, then we will need to edit the embed code before adding it to the Wix HTML code widget. If you embed more than one MakeRoom Embed into your Wix website without editing the embed code, then customers trying to buy more than one product see a separate cart for each product.
If you want to display more than one product on your Wix website without editing the embed code, then we can embed a collection.
Steps:
Right click to ‘Select all’ and then ‘Copy’ the full embed code provided by MakeRoom.
Note
When you create your MakeRoom Embed for a Wix website, you cannot use the Redirect in the same tab option because of Wix limitations.
From your Wix account, find the site you want to edit in the My Sites section, and then click Edit Site.
In the Wix Website Editor, click the + button, and then click More.
Click HTML Code to add an HTML code widget to the page.
Click Enter Code.
On the HTML Settings dialog, paste the embed code for your MakeRoom Embed or collection in the Add your code here field and then click Update.
Resize the HTML code widget to fit its contents. If you are creating an embed with a cart, then make sure the cart tab appears in the right place.
When you’re done, click Save.

Right click to ‘Select all’ and then ‘Copy’ the full embed code provided by MakeRoom.
Paste the code into a code editor or the Wix website builder. Repeat the first two steps until you have created the MakeRoom Embeds you need.
Edit the embed codes to make sure they display in the proper alignment.
From your Wix account, find the site you want to edit in the My Sites section, and then click Edit Site.
In the Wix Website Editor, click the + button, and then click More.
Click HTML Code to add an HTML code widget to the page.
Click Enter Code.
On the HTML Settings dialog, paste the edited code for your MakeRoom Embeds in the Add your code here field and then click Update.

When you’re done, click Save.
Check out the Shopify documentation or contact your website provider. Of course if you’re really stuck please email info@mymakeroom.com
We handle the sales, you focus on the designs.
